How To Repair A Slate Roof

Hello Forum Members,
I need suggestions on the best fashion to temporarily fix a pigsty in the slate roof of my house from the inside (i.eastward. from the loft area) till I can get the roof retiled properly. Objective is to prevent or minimise the ingress of water into the loft surface area.

Due to the contempo bad weather condition the roof of my house has adult a "hole". The roof is a slate roof and ii of the slates seem to take snapped in half leaving a fairly significant pigsty in the roof. Unfortunately I do non have a photo on manus but the hole is irregularly shaped and is virtually 10 cm X 10 cm in size.

The roof is very old and does non take a felt layer under the tiles. Therefore all water entering the roof structure falls onto the plasterboard ceiling... I noticed a significant brown damp patch a two days ago on the sleeping room ceiling which is how I knew that the roof was leaking.

The roof is a very old roof and I was planning to get the tiles inverse old in the next 1-2 years. However I will now attempt and get it done in the side by side 6 months.

I cannot access the roof from outside for multiple reasons including safety, height, adventure of causing more damage to the roof, ladder will have to be on neighbour's apartment roof etc.

But I want to know how I can temporarily gear up the hole till so?

Distressing forgot to mention that this prepare had to exist from the loft area since I cannot access the main roof from the exterior. I have edited my original mail to make this clear.
Difficult to say without seeing the job, but plastic DPC is nicely business firm but workable at the aforementioned time.....information technology doesn't tear readily either!

Felt support trays can make very handy temporary slates (if y'all trim the return off them where they are meant to sit on the eaves board). Trim to size with tinsnips, constrict in where the gap is (lower bit outside, higher bit inside) and job jobbed.

I used a black piece of cardboard and ran it through a laminator a few times made a good temp tile for a friends roof.Fitted from loft easily as it's very slim.
